Earlier in the year, my mom told us about a story she read in the paper about a puppy found on the highway outside of Brandon. This really touched us, Jolie especially. She decided that this puppy needed help, so she wrote a letter to her teacher explaining how she would like to do a fundraiser to help out this puppy. Well the principal also read this letter and wrote to Jolie telling her what a wonderful idea this was. So this past Thursday, the school had an assembly to talk about the fundraiser, they also had the manager of the humane society there. It was really cute. After the assembly the brandon Sun was there to interview Jolie (i have about 10 copies of the paper from that day) The next day I recieved a call at work from the school, letting me know that CBC Radio wanted to do an interview with Jolie!!! I was so surprised!! So this past monday Jolie was featured on the radio!! She also participated in the Celebration of Excellence in Learning, where she represented her grade 2 class who are members of "kids for saving earth". Its been a crazy busy last few days. We also dropped off to the humane society, Jolie's fundraising funds, so we got the million dollar tour of the facility..Do you know that our local shelter doesn't even have running water?? its so sad...i wish i could win the lottery, and they'd be set.
so i am including a few photos of the last few days events..

this is Jolie on the phone AFTER her interview...i kinda got wrapped up in the moment. and forgot to take a photo...OOPS!

this is the display they made at the celebration pointing out Jolie's great idea..

and this the photo that was featured on the front page last friday. the dog pictured in the photo is from the shelter and is wearing a red bandana to show that she donated blood!! isn't that amazing!!
Some people have asked me if i "helped" her come up with this idea. the answer is no. she is so independent with her ideas. we (mike and I) have always be animal softies, we rarely turn a blind eye to an animal in need, and we've always told our girls to be kind to animals, and i think a combinations of those 2 factors really plays a big role in her love for animals..ask her what she wants to be when she grows up, and she'll tell you, a vet!!!
i can't wait to see what life brings. Jolie's teacher expects to see her doing something big, like prime minister or some animal activist, or maybe a big hollywood star. I believe it!!!
i am so proud of both my girls..
